Connecting production of passenger car clutch and transmission housing for greater flexibility

With a carefully crafted combination of different robot solutions, we automated the entire finishing line of a passenger car transmission and clutch housing production system. The following stations were interconnected to provide for greater flexibility: high-pressure cleaning, storage and tempering, laser marking, impregnating plant, leakage test station and packaging unit.

This concept does not involve traditional conveyor technology or special components. Instead, it can be flexibly adapted to the products being processed, changing processing sequences or lot sizes. For example, the quantities are heavily dependent on demand from the automobile manufacturer. Fluctuations in the casting quality of the workpieces, if applicable, also require an additional processing sequence.

We completed the project as a turnkey solution that included parts tracking within the production line, connection to a production data collection system as well as CE certification of the entire interconnected production system.
