Robot cell for sensitive handling of sheet metal parts

As in many production processes, there is potential for increasing efficiency in the material flow of sheet metal production. For a leading automobile manufacturer, we have designed and built a robotic cell that makes the loading and unloading of a machining center with sheet metal molds faster, more flexible and more economical.

Two industrial robots work hand-in-hand in a confined space in order to achieve the shortest possible cycle times. The solution includes specially developed grippers, so it is possible to handle the workpieces without damage. The sheet metal parts are handled gently, even with large position tolerances. In addition, the system can handle various workpiece geometries with minimal retooling time and can be easily adapted to other derivatives.
