Robot cell that automatically deburrs generator shafts up to 20 m long

The contours add up to about one kilometer in length and some of them must be machined. Many grooves, threads, slots and drill holes on large generator shafts, such as those used in hydroelectric or coal-fired power plants, must be deburred. The process is incredibly time-consuming. We have therefore designed a robot cell to automate the process of deburring such large rotors. The result: Time-savings of more than 50-80% compared to traditional deburring methods! The key to this system is a powerful software and database concept that makes it possible to create the processing program for the robot primarily by offline programming and 3D simulation. Using a convenient WinCC user interface, processing can be configured and modified directly on the machine system.
