Robot duo automates the press-in process and features customized safety concept for emergency operation

To increase the productivity of a 700-t spindle press in passenger car parts manufacturing, we equipped the press with an agile pair of robots. To meet the special requirements of a large-scale aluminum molding process, we developed special grippers for gripping parts heated up to high temperatures. The grippers require no maintenance and can handle a comparatively broad range of products with minimal retooling.

These two industrial robots have completely automated the production process at the press, from placing the blanks in the machine to removing the burrs. Such automation considerably increases output while, at the same time, unmanned operation significantly improves process reliability and safety.

Nevertheless, to guarantee safe and reliable human-machine cooperation during a potential emergency scenario, we also included a customized safety concept.

At a glance

Automation of all press production steps, from placing the blank in the machine to removing burrs, plus applying a separating agent (water/ graphite compound)

High level of process safety thanks to unmanned operation

Higher production continuity and output

Specially developed gripper concept

Customized safety concept for human-machine emergency operation while fully maintaining system flexibility

Complex control and visualization, including the management of the different foundry results in the superseding PLC system

SAMPLE PROJECTS OF OUR ROBOTIC SYSTEMS AND AUTOMATION SOLUTIONS

For almost 25 years, we have planned, developed and constructed robot-supported production systems as well as processing, assembly and handling solutions for our customers. Our more than 1,000 projects successfully implemented – from the robot cell to the completely interconnected production system – are a testament to our process expertise and experience across all industries.

We focus on custom-made solutions that include process analysis and design, software development and machine construction. We deliver them turnkey ready so they easily integrate into your production environment. We also offer standardized modular systems that can be easily and flexibly modified and are scalable to meet your production requirements.

We have compiled several sample projects so you can better understand how we operate.
